Google Online Shopping India – What to Expect
Since childhood we have associated the month of December with
festivities, joy, holidays, and fun. The excitement of ushering a new year and
bidding adieu to the year gone by can’t be expressed in words. Buying and
exchanging gifts, season’s greetings, decorating our homes, gorging on candies
and chocolates, makes this the most anticipated month of year. Google gives you
yet another reason to celebrate because the Great Online Shopping Festival 2014
is back to fill your shopping carts with enormous discounts from 10th to 12th
December!
The
Great Online Shopping Festival is a Google initiative inspired by a similar
shopping event in the US – Cyber Monday. The Great Online Shopping Festival
2014 aka GOSF, just like its earlier editions, is completely online and
exclusively for Indian consumers.
As
an online shopper, the Great Online Shopping Festival 2014 gives you an
opportunity to avail mammoth discounts on a wide variety of products. Don’t
forget to buy everything you have been wishing to, that too from the comfort of
your home.
The
Success of GOSF 2013
The
Great Online Shopping Festival was a whopping success last year. GOSF 2013 had
received a spectacular response and attracted approximately 2 million visitors.
As people thronged e-commerce sites to check out deals on electronics, shoes,
watches, and travel, the organisers are expecting GOSF 2014 to be even bigger.
Talking about how the festival gets bigger and better every year – GOSF 2013
had witnessed double the number of visitors compared to its maiden edition in
2012.
Google
said, its partners, over 200 e-commerce websites, saw daily sales jumping 3 to
4 times. It is interesting to note that offbeat categories like cars and
housing saw great traction during the festival. Of the two million unique
visitors, almost half were women. While 2pm - 8pm was the peak time of traffic
each day, more than 50% of the viewers came from the 18-34 years category. It
is believed that over 30% of the buyers were first time online shoppers. That
gave most e-commerce sites a reason to rejoice. The popular categories, apart
from electronics, were apparel, e-books, books, home décor items, and
jewellery.
"Initiatives
like GOSF act as a catalyst to further boost adoption of online shopping in
India. In fact, a lot of these new shoppers become repeat buyers and add up to
the traffic on the website," Snapdeal.Com Vice President (Marketing)
Sandeep Komaravelly said.
Moreover,
as customers make merry, the sellers too hope to cash-in on the online frenzy.
Online retailers witnessed an increase of up to 4 times in sales during the
three-day shopping carnival. Additionally, with many first time online shoppers
logging on, the companies acquired more and more new customers.
Trendin.com
also participated in the festival and offered huge discounts on its products. The
site also saw a phenomenal increase in the traffic and sales right from the
first day of the festival.
Experts
believe that the great online shopping festival adds credibility to e-retail
and spreads awareness. Companies have recorded immense increase in traffic and
sales during GOSF. GOSF is definitely a splendid platform for retailers to come
together and give their best to the consumers.
